Learning Objectives

  1. Deal with practical, everyday communication demands within familiar contexts. (Example: asking and answering questions) Ref. EFL 5.2.13.
  2. Find specific predictable information in short, simple texts in a range of age-and level-appropriate topics. (Example: narratives and personal accounts) Ref.EFL 5.3.1.
  3. Understand the main idea of audio recordings on subjects of personal interest, provided speech is clear. Ref. EFL 5.2.5

Target audience

This OER has been designed for students  of 2nd year of bachillerato between 17-18 years old who hold a pre-intermediate English level.

Competences and evaluation criteria

Competences

1. Analyze the uses of past simple and past continuous to describe the order of events

2. Read texts about familiar topics to grasp main ideas and specific details

3. Listen to a short story for detailed understanding in the context of an informal exchange.

Evaluation criteria

1. Learners can deal with practical, everyday communication demands in familiar contexts, such as describing past events. (I.1, I.3, S.1) Ref. I.EFL.5.6.1.

2. Learners can find specific information and identify the main points in simple, straightforward texts. Ref. I.EFL. 5.10.1. (I.1, I.2, S.2)

3. Learners can identify the main idea in a variety of audio recordings (e.g., interviews and dialogs) where speech is clear. (I.3, I.4) Ref. I.EFL.5.5.1. 

Estimated time

This topic is planned to be covered in two weeks, which means six hours of instruction.

Prior Knowledge

The students should already know regular and irregular verbs and past time expressions.
