How to Teach conditionals
1. Introduction to Conditionals
What are conditionals?
Conditionals are sentences that discuss real or hypothetical situations and their possible outcomes.
Structure:
If + condition (clause), result (clause).
2. Zero Conditional (General truths)
Usage:
To express facts or general truths.
Structure:
If + present simple, present simple.
Examples:
If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.
If it rains, the ground gets wet.
Exercise Ideas:
Match cause and effect sentences.
Write your own examples of scientific facts.
3. First Conditional (Real possibility)
Usage:
To discuss real and possible situations in the future.
Structure:
If + present simple, will + base verb.
Examples:

4. Second Conditional (Unreal situations in the present/future)
Usage:
To discuss imaginary or unlikely situations.

If + past simple, would + base verb.
Examples:

If he studied harder, he would get better grades.

5. Third Conditional (Unreal situations in the past)
Usage:

6. Mixed Conditional (Unreal situations combining time frames)
