DEFINITION:
Describes actions that were in progress at a specific moment in the past
USES:
1. Action in progress at a specific moment in the past.
2. Action interrupted by another action in the past.
3. Describing two actions happening simultaneously.
STRUCTURE:
verb "to be" in the past (was/were) + the main verb in its -ing form.
Affirmative: Subject + was/were + verb in -ing + complement
Negative: Subject + wasn't/weren't + verb in -ing + complement
Question: Was/Were + subject + verb in -ing + complement + ?
EXAMPLES:
Affirmative: You were reading a book.
Negative: She wasn't listening to the teacher during the class.
Question: Were they doing the homework all night?
